NEWS FROM NASFAA

This week on "Off The Cuff," Justin is joined by Jill and Rachel to discuss this week's announcement from the Department of Education (ED) of a temporary FAFSA filing fix for applicants and contributors without a Social Security number. From there, Rachel debriefs listeners on Education Secretary Miguel Cardona's testimony at a Senate appropriation subcommittee hearing this week.

On Monday, NASFAA posted an anonymous Quick Scan Survey asking members when their institution plans to send financial aid offers to students. Out of the 255 responses to the third installment of the poll, 59% of members indicated that their institutions have sent out aid offers for some or all of their students, while 34% have not begun to package aid. Read the full poll results, broken out by institutional sector, for additional insights. The first and second iteration of this poll was conducted during the weeks of April 15 and April 22. Check out the FAFSA Simplification web center for more details.

Join us for Voices of NASFAA on May 10 at 2 p.m. ET to honor Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. For this episode, we’ll be speaking with Kolby Santiago, assistant director of financial aid at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Kolby started her journey in financial aid as a student worker in 1998. As we dive into Kolby’s experience and voice, we will also take time to reflect on what Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage month means for our community and profession. Be a part of the conversation on LinkedIn.

Please join us in congratulating Anafe Robinson, FAAC®, formerly the director of financial aid and scholarships at Los Angeles Pierce College, who retired in December after 35 years of working in financial aid. Celebrate your own career developments by completing the "Movers and Shakers" form to share the news with your colleagues.
